  1. Requirements Planning and Understanding

    Course Format

    Zoom Virtual Learning Event

Attendance is mandatory and required for successful course completion. The Zoom meeting link and login information is distributed via email at the start of the course.
In this instructor-led environment, learners interact with a cohort of their peers over a set period. The course experience is built around experiential learning, or “learning by doing,” empowering learners through practical application of real-life tasks while tapping into the experience of both peers and an NIGP-certified facilitator. As part of course registration, students receive a workbook including job aids, practical application exercises, and case studies designed to promote critical thinking and immediate, post-course application of lessons.

The ability to synthesize and meet requirements in order to provide service to the greater public entity is an essential function of the procurement professional. A critical element of this analysis, however, is the ability to directly apply information gleaned from researched materials and criteria to individual procurements, aligning organizational goals and metrics to the success and health of the entity. NIGP’s Requirements Planning & Understanding course creates a dedicated learning experience where students leave with the ability to:
•Analyze the requirements for a project and provide the best solutions for the entity.
•Determine the components and criteria required to successfully award a contract that meets the needs of the end user.
•Describe how to customize terms and conditions in a contract to meet the entity’s needs.
•Evaluate, select, and apply the tools and processes available for a comprehensive procurement plan.

Contact Hour and Continuing Education Unit Allocation

Successful completion of the certificate awards the learner with the following:
    4.0 Contact Hours
    0.4 CEUs
Please Note: Should NIGP determine that pre-work is necessary for the successful engagement of this course, the above Contact Hours and CEUs will be adjusted.
