Webinar Recording - Sustainable IT Procurement: Unlocking Savings through Durability, Repairability and Support 120716
Add to Wishlist
Presenter: Gay Gordon-Byrne, Executive Director, The Repair Association, North Haledon, NJ
Sustainable purchasing goals are often blocked or thwarted by IT concerns about durability, reliability, and support. Keeping IT equipment in use and out of the waste stream is impossible without addressing these concerns, as well as the drivers of equipment refresh choices and the supplier policies that are aligned against extended use.
This online training session presents real examples of how Procurement and IT can align objectives towards practical sustainability. Gay will focus on the problems that large IT buyers face when selecting equipment for long useful life including: attention to repair-ability, warranty, support agreements, licenses, access to defect support, and upgrades. Learn how to spot and deflect supplier-created and IT department myths/policies that impair extended use and how repair-friendly terms and conditions in contracts are essential to healthy markets for reuse and extended use of equipment over time. Achieve confidence in creating organizational policies that enable and encourage reuse wherever practical.
After completing this online training session, learners will be able to:
1. Align IT contracts with best practices for sustainable purchasing, such as repair-ability, warranty, support agreements, licenses, access to defect support, and upgrades.
2. Critique terms and conditions that may impair extended use or allow for repair-friendly provisions.
